The stone house was built from locally quarried limestone in the 1860s.  The main floor has a kitchen, pantry, dining room, living room, parlor, and one bedroom, each with its own distinct character.  Rather unique, is a 35-foot deep and 3-foot wide well in the kitchen. The second floor has four additional bedrooms plus a large storage area. However, the house lacked indoor plumbing. An outhouse was part of the back barn/ smokehouse, near the back kitchen door.  The basement has two large rooms, a cistern, plus a cave, probably used as a root cellar.  The house remained warm during harsh winters with its thick stone walls.  On sweltering summer days, the stone walls absorbed the heat, keeping the interior comfortable and pleasant.
